Robotic Milling

Robotic milling of a shape out of a solid block requires an off-line method of programming as thousands of positions must be utilized by the robot to trim rough, intermediate and final shapes from the part. These tool cutting paths are typically created in CAM software. KMT offers a custom CAM-to-Robot software product called CAMpro® that facilitates moving these off-line programmed part paths to run on a 6-axis robot. CAMpro converts the tool paths to run on the particular robot model selected and outputs a complete robot program that manages tool changes and all other parameters of the program. CAMpro software combined with KMT routing hardware makes robotic milling a robust option for milling of products and molds from soft materials such as aluminum, UHMW, ren board, wood and foam.
